Beckman Coulter Life Sciences and Invitae Enter into Application Development Agreement for the Biomek NGeniuS System

INDIANAPOLIS – (September 27, 2021) – Beckman Coulter Life Sciences today announced it has entered into an application development agreement with Invitae (NYSE: NVTA), a leading medical genetics company, to enable the development of new applications on its newest NGS automation platform, the Biomek NGeniuS Next Generation Library Prep System.

The Biomek NGeniuS Liquid Handling System* is a purpose-built liquid handler for NGS library preparation. It provides an easy-to-use solution that reduces manual transfers and hands-on time for the traditionally labor-intensive process of library construction.

“Partnerships between Beckman Coulter Life Sciences and reagent manufacturers will accelerate the automation of NGS library prep kits, expanding the menu of the Biomek NGenuiS liquid handler while harnessing our automation expertise and the library preparation portfolio of partners like Invitae,” said Jason Lanie, Vice President and General Manager of the Biotechnology Business Unit at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences.

In this partnership Invitae will develop applications specifically designed for the Biomek NGeniuS liquid handler, which will be available to Biomek NGeniuS instrument users via a first-of-its-kind electronic application library. The Biomek NGeniuS System itself is scheduled to launch in early 2022.

“Together with Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, we’ll increase automation and reduce laboratory preparation time required of researchers, including current and future labs using Invitae’s kit-based products, who are advancing the field of precision oncology,” said Vishal Sikri, president of Oncology at Invitae.
